I think that with ...No, that's completely fair. I think that with any book to movie adaptations the people who have read the book are going to have an advantage about the finer details and things the movie makers leave to interpretation (or fail to specify for whatever reason). So it's commendable that you've written a review that doesn't rip the movie to shreds because you misunderstood a scene that wasn't explicitly clear. (Not a dig at you for not having read the book.)

Re main female characters, there are two movies that I know of coming out in 2014 with female leads. Vampire Academy (coming out on Feb 14) and Divergent (no idea when that's being released), both are book to movie adaptations and it will be interesting to see how they go. From my memory of that scene Katniss finds the image, gets upset and then sees some bad guys sneering... Unless I missed something I would say that the film version surely leaves it ambiguous at least? Or maybe I missed a line of dialogue in which it was explained... Oh well I guess I'll have to see it again!

And thank you very much! A few people have also commented on that last paragraph too which is good. I guess it's nice to know that there is a demand out there for more films with a female as the main character. Let's hope that starts happening soon! Peeta painted it in defiance of the Capitol. In the book she didn't even know he had done that specifically as they'd removed it and covered the ground with a mat.

Aside from that, I agree with what you've said. I think it's a fair assessment from someone who hasn't read the books and your last paragraph is dead on.

Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5137248434064183646.post-68261810675722333612013-12-02T09:30:45.062-08:002013-12-02T09:30:45.062-08:00Haha I see you're quite passionate about my fr...Haha I see you're quite passionate about my freedom to swear! I agree with your point about it being the best way of fully expressing the extremes of an emotion. However I also realise that some people don't like reading words like "Fucktard", "titty-twister" and "Shithead". I just try to write down how I'd say it out loud and simply accept that it won't be for everybody.
A Demon's Voicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15752044175055845967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5137248434064183646.post-10705791293564377462013-12-02T09:20:50.707-08:002013-12-02T09:20:50.707-08:00Ah well thank you for saying so! I Imagine that I said they were boring or something along those lines! So does that mean you liked them? Have you read the books? Maybe you're kind of seeing in their blankness what you've brought with you from the page?A Demon's Voicehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15752044175055845967noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5137248434064183646.post-32797478343421307622013-12-02T00:39:21.063-08:002013-12-02T00:39:21.063-08:00I've enjoyed your post. Also, this is just a personal issue, I felt that your swearing in the article was a bit excessive.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5137248434064183646.post-81454756422000352102013-11-25T09:57:50.805-08:002013-11-25T09:57:50.805-08:00Love the concluding paragraph.
